The black silhouettes that ply the canals of Venice are replaced here by colorful bragozzi, typical Upper Adriatic fishing boats characterized by brightly hued sails.

The entrance to the Renaissance heart of the city to the south is marked first and foremost by the Porta Garibaldi, a fortress built around 1300 that welcomes those arriving in the city to immerse themselves in a stroll through history, crossing the 9 bridges of the Canal Vena and discovering historic palaces with Venetian facades.

Among the monuments to visit are numerous houses of worship. From the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, which houses an extraordinary 1617-pipe Callido organ, to the elegant octagonal dome of the small temple of San Martino, to the Church of San Francesco, built in the 1400s and restored in the 1700s with the addition of a rich veneer of stucco and decoration. Continuing on, next to the Church of St. Andrew, you will catch sight of the Clock Tower; stop and admire the oldest working tower clock in the world.

We cannot miss a stop on the city's balcony, the Vigo Bridge: built in 1685 and adorned with marble in 1762 and still proudly guarded by Istrian stone lions. Another lion - friendly called “el gatòn” (the big cat) - tops the soaring grace of the Vigo column in the square of the same name.

You will board a motorboat that will take you through the city's three main canals and the Darsene (docks); you will arrive in Sottomarina and pass through the natural oases of the Venetian lagoon.
