Hiking in the Euganean Hills

Departure time at 2.30 pm - Duration 4 hors - € 55 per person

With this trekking-tour along Lorenzoni’s Path, we'll discover Monte Venda, the only peak of the Euganean Hills that with its height of 603m is classified as mountain.

We’ll start our walk from Casa Marina in Galzignano Terme and we’ll proceed towards the top of Monte Venda, to discover all its secrets.

During the walk, we’ll have the chance to detour to visit the ruins of the Benedictine Monastery of the Olivetans: a medieval monastery dedicated to St. John the Baptist, of which remain only part of the perimeter walls of the church, the bell tower and the crypt.

The complex is said to have been founded in 1197 by the monk Adam of Torreglia who retired there to devote himself to the hermit life and was later followed by the Benedictine monks of Santa Giustina of Padua.

Monte Venda also holds another secret: from 1955 to 1998 it hosted a NATO base built in the heart of the hill, where over five hundred military personnel worked.
